A hundred square has 100 small squares. Each one is 1100, or 1%. Each column of 10 is 110, or 10%.

A whole bar is 100% of something. Split it into 10 parts and each part is 10%. To turn a fraction into a percentage, make an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 10 or 100.
