On a number line, 0 is on the left and the numbers get bigger to the right.
When we count in steps, every jump is the same size. The arc over the line shows each jump, and the number on the arc says how far it went, e.g. +2.
Counting in 2s from 0 lands on 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10: these are the even numbers. The numbers in between, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, are the odd numbers.
