Oblique drawings of solids

Shorten depth edges with the scale q, spot faulty oblique drawings and read true sizes from a Schrägbild.

📖 Start here: read the steps of the “Lesson” in order (1, 2, 3 …) and answer each question. Then continue with “Practice”.

Guide

In a Schrägbild (Kavalierperspektive) the front face lies in the drawing plane and is drawn true to size. Edges that go into the depth are drawn at the Verzerrungswinkel ω = 45° and shortened by the Verzerrungsmaßstab q = ½.

Parallel edges stay parallel. Hidden edges are drawn dashed. This studio shows the solid itself; the oblique picture is described in the tasks, so you can draw it in your exercise book.

For the Realschule: from a Schrägbild you can also read off the true size of a segment or angle in the front plane.
